Official MDOC material says SAVIN covers MDOC offenders and participating county-jail facilities. It does not state that every county participates, and the research found no separate Itawamba participation statement. Confirm Itawamba County in the live system and read the agency name on the matching record.
Coverage follows the contributing custodian. An Itawamba County Detention Center event can concern a county booking. An MDOC event concerns state custody or placement. A person released from the county jail on bond may never have an MDOC record, while a person sent from Itawamba to MDOC has changed custodians rather than returned to the community. VINELink is not a historical county release list.

A released result should be confirmed with the contributing agency. For an Itawamba jail record, ask whether the person was physically released to the community or delivered to another custodian, on what date, and under what authority. For MDOC, compare the public location and tentative date with an actual release certificate. A transfer notice may be accurate while the claim “released from all custody” is false.
When a notice gives a time, report it as the VINELink event time unless the agency confirms physical departure. The current static Mississippi pages do not document a PIN sequence. For that reason, it would be inaccurate to claim that a PIN is always required, describe a fixed number of digits, or import another state's instructions. Follow the live prompts. If the screen requests a PIN or confirmation, complete it exactly as shown. If it does not, do not invent one.
Review the registration after any agency change. A county alert may link into MDOC, but the first record and new state record describe different custody phases. Keep the registration details and note which channels were selected. Itawamba SAVIN Registration Link
Mississippi's Registration Link is a distinct local-to-state feature. The state says it can carry a county-level registration into the state system when a felony conviction leads to MDOC or other custody movement. That continuity helps prevent a user from losing the alert merely because the person moved out of a county system.
It also creates a key interpretation rule. A notice that registration continued into MDOC is evidence of a custody handoff, not evidence that the person returned to the community. Compare the new agency with the county event. Then use the MDOC record to check entry, location, sentence, and tentative date. If the automated text remains unclear, call SAVIN or the contributing agencies before describing the outcome.

Limits of Itawamba VINELink Checks
VINELink depends on agency data, coding, and timing. A newly processed event can lag. Multiple alerts can represent more than one custody activity. Itawamba participation must be checked live. A miss may come from a name variation or an event beyond the system's visible scope. None of these outcomes alone proves current freedom.
Federal and immigration custody require different tools. BOP's locator covers federal records in its scope. A federal pretrial person housed in a local contract jail may require the federal docket and the actual jail because USMS has no public historical locator. ICE's locator includes current detainees and qualifying people released from ICE custody within the preceding 60 days. VINELink cannot replace those channels.
The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is also separate. It covers only people with qualifying registration duties and is not a general release database. A registry hit does not prove a specific release date, and a no-hit does not establish custody status.
Confirm Itawamba Release Notifications
For a county event, save the person name, booking number if shown, agency, event label, and date. Check Tiger's active and released views, then call the Itawamba County Detention Center at 662-862-7300. Ask whether the booking ended by community release, transfer, return to another county, MDOC commitment, or detainer delivery. Request the actual departure time and destination if needed.
For an MDOC event, search the person's MDOC ID and compare location, location-change date, sentence, and tentative release date. Ask MDOC Records for the current status or certificate if the public page is unclear. A tentative date is not proof that release happened, just as a county-to-MDOC movement is not discharge.
This two-record check keeps the statement narrow and accurate. Say which custodian reported the event and what it reported. Add the confirming agency record. Stop at the layer the evidence proves.
For an older Itawamba event, request the administrative release record because the county feed has only a short window. Ask for the actual date and time, release type and authority, destination or receiving agency, and detainer or transfer documents. Court records can then establish bond, dismissal, sentence, or other legal action. VINELink remains the notice, while those records establish the event and meaning.
